Yesterday on lifehacker.com, Eric Ravenscraft published a piece titled, "Practical Math Shortcuts For Everyday Life." In the article, Ravenscraft outlines a few formula's to make your life easier, including how to estimate interest rates, how to calculate a tip, and how to figure out how much that trip to Starbucks every morning is costing you.
One of the formulas specifically struck our eye: How to convert Fahrenheit values to Celsius values.
As proud temperature freaks, we appreciate this part of Ravenscraft's post very much. Here's what he has to say about the conversions:
- Celsius to Fahrenheit: Multiple the temperature by 2, then add 30.
- Fahrenheit to Celsius: Subtract 30, then divide by 2.
While this isn't a perfect science, it will make your life easier, whether that's when you're dealing with an International friend or coworker, are dealing with a regulatory agency, or just prefer one of the historical figures over another.
