New Device Warns of Overheating Electronics

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that electrical receptacles are involved in 5,300 fires every year, causing forty deaths and more than 100 consumer injuries. So how many electronic devices are charging in your home at one time? Do you ever worry about them overheating and creating an electrical fire? Seán Ó Tuama once did. Now he doesn’t have to.

With his company based out of Cork, he helped to create a device called the Firemole.  It attaches to a charger and sounds a built-in alarm if a dangerous temperature is detected. The alarm is activated when it reaches 45°C, the same temperature skin begins to damage. To top it all off, the alarm can be attached to any kind of electronic device.

What if there was a way to activate an alarm if your facility overheated? There is thanks to DicksonOne! Our system’s devices can send out real time alarms via text, email, or phone if the monitoring point goes out of range.
